Meeting the kids!

Today, I began the day with the workers in their morning devotions.  It was so good to be reunited with my ministry friends!  They each have a special role here on the center to allow training to occur.  What sweet friends.

I was able to venture to the classroom today!  There are four families here for training from an entire new area from what I understand.  They are from the north up by Lake Victoria.  Three tribes from this area are within this training cycle.  They are Kuria, Jita, and Mkerewe.  These families have six kids within my classroom and one on the way!  Olais explained that they were very scared last week but already they have come to love the classroom.  They are a sweet little group that will be great fun to teach these next many weeks!  The only boy in the group fell over and bumped his head on the concrete floor.  Now that is a bummer!  I was careful not to scare him but he came to me.  I consoled him and it felt so good to have one of my babies in my hands again! He recovered from his fall and became my little buddy. The next item of business was to get down to diaper business!  Ann and Marjorie were gracious to set us up with cloth diapers!  This will aid greatly in cleanliness in the classroom and knock the number of outfits I have to wear in one day down considerably!  My little buddy whose name is Baraka meaning Blessing was not real thrilled about it at first but it helped in a VERY big way!  Thank you ladies very much!  The children's chos (bathroom) were built onto the classroom so that also helps in a big way!  The first week of teaching to go to the cho was not quite as traumatic this time.  I placed Baraka on my back and worked on getting the other little two set up with their new school uniform!  Baraka fell asleep on my back and it warmed my heart for sure.

It was great to meet with Olais and I was encouraged that he has been doing many of the things that he learned while we taught together.  I am happy about that!  I found pictures and different things from last years group that helped me see that great learning continued to take place during my furlough!

I will look forward to introducing you to each of our children individually within the coming weeks.
