How many Books do you have?

Regardless of my age I have always been a lover of Children's Books.  An interesting story filled with well illustrated pages usually found its way to my bookshelf.  I remember packing up my office and house preparing for my Tanzania departure.  I quickly realized with each box how many books I had in my possession.  Not only did I collect the books but I grew to have a deep desire to write a few children's books of my own.  My time here in Tanzania has spurred that passion even further.  No longer do I have a wall of bookshelves for the books to grow in number.  But, a desire for more children to hold and read a book like "my kids" are here in this post.  The children's books that you find here in Tanzania if any are illustrated with harsh looking pictures of violence and not age appropriate stories for children.  But, even the terrible books are hard to find here.  I keep asking the Lord for wisdom and guidance for how I can do my part so there can be more pictures like these in Tanzania.

The Golden Glows a vibrant and active seniors ministry a part of Plainfield Christian Church took on the task of filling our bookshelves for the school at the Training Center.  I was able to visit and share about the ministry and while I was in the States they collected children's books for me to bring to Tanzania.  I even have books collected to bring for other trips there were so many collected for the kids!  Most of "my kids" at the Training Center have never opened a book before especially one with such vibrant colors and pictures.  We had a book party on the lawn of the Training Center.  We pulled out some of the new books that I brought looked them over and stocked the shelves of the classroom.  The joy is that many of the Golden Glows watched me grow up.  They told me stories and shared stories of  the scriptures.

Thank you for helping me to share stories with "my kids" here in Tanzania!  Even though there is an ocean that separates us.  Being the sentimental person that I am it is moments like these when you all seem so very close.  Thank you for blessing our students in this way.  They love the books and so do I.  Maybe one day the count of our collected books written in English and Kiswahili will be one or two by Wendy Wagoner.

Thank you for our library!
