Sherehe for the Widow and Orphan Project

Have you ever had the chance to look into a child's face and read the story he/she has to tell?  Ndasat is a twelve year old young girl with a story to share.  One eye is filled with tears of the parents that she has loved and lost.  She is now trying to find her way living with her brother and sister.  The days are filled with hard work with little hope of provisions or schooling.  However, if you look a little closer one eye is filled with a tear overflowing with the happiness she now has as one in the Widow and Orphan Project.  As Ndasat was told that she would be a part of this program of training and school sponsorship this is the picture that was taken.  Tears of no longer being forgotten and being instilled with hope.  What a picture!  What a story!

Ndasat would like to be a teacher.  This project will provide needed  hygiene items, CHE training, along with Bible teaching.  Though this is called a project it is filled with many faces like who are now given hope!

This project was kicked off with a Sherehe (celebration) on Saturday.  The community, government, and a few CMF teammates gathered to kick things off!  The day was filled with singing, cultural dances, speeches, the cutting of the ribbon to the office building, and a meal of celebration.  The day was all about kids which is a rare event in most tribal cultures.  Heather was the CMF lead on kicking things off along with Sarah one of our apprentices.  The day was a great day to celebrate.

Naserian who you have heard in previous posts of being my Masai Daughter who was an initial "face" to the project.  She is one of the first to be sponsored.  I was sad because she was unable to be a part of the day.  She was in Enkeywa with extended relatives for school break.  Since Enkeywa was to site of our camp over the weekend I held out hope that I would see her before the weekend was over.

 Prayer Points~
  • Pray for the 130 orphans that fill the initial project and their future sponsors.  A relationship that is one of great blessing for both the sender and receiver.
  • Pray as Heather continues to work on details and the paper work.  Along with Joseph who is the national leader and visionary for those in most need in the community.
  • I am working on lessons that will be shared on the project days that combine CHE Lessons with Bible Stories.  I am trying to get a few done before I leave for Language School.
