We had fun celebrating Milo's 4th Birthday! He wasn't so sure about the hat part but he loved his doggie birthday cupcake! We celebrated the last day with the kids as well. I made cupcakes for the kids and a doggie one for Milo! To my surprise the celebrations were more to come!
Milo and I arrived at the children's classroom for a morning of fun. However, to my surprise the parents were also joining. I knew the kids were going to practice their graduation songs because I would not be there. Yes, I am taking some vacation time to return to the States to be a part of my dear dear friend Jennifer Taylor and Matt Johnson's wedding. I will stop in London half way to help with the travel and see a Plainfield friend Carrie Thomas. She is studying at Oxford so a good excuse to see her and London!! But, back to Friday. The teachers, Lomayani, and the families had kindly put together a program in my honor. It was a very touching hour filled with songs, words of blessing, gifts, and prayer. Tanzanians know how to party!
This should be a clip of the parents presenting a kitenga. Most significant events or gifts are of Kangas or Kitengas. It was a very moving moment that I will always store in my heart. I will miss this group of families very much. But, pray as they return to their village areas they will be Great Families of God who expand the Kingdom. May God protect, guide, and love us all on the journey!
