Breaking News! (the good kind)

No longer does my finger rest on a remote scrolling through the 5 o'clock news.  Listening to all the stories of individuals intertwined in sin and selfishness. It seems the world as a whole has certainly kept the feeds busy with violent acts to embassy's.  Riots and protesting because of a u-tube clip.  Waging war for fear of nuclear threat.  Kenya going to war with Somalia so a bomb is placed in a children's Sunday School Class.  Bombs in public places killing the innocent.  Wars within tribes for water and grazing.  Believe it or not some of these things I do not have to have a remote because they are in my backyard.  But, in all the craziness of this world there is another kind of news that often is overlooked.

Tune in...

As one of my teammates began our weekly prayer time by reading Hebrews 11 we began to recount the faithfulness of those around us within the ministry to our faithful God.  Like Abraham, one of the church planter families from the last course have already left their home and extended family to live in a more remote area to begin CHE groups to plant a church.  There are three families among the Digo and it has been a difficult area to reach for Christ.  They have split themselves into three sections to evangelize to the area.  They are now in two additional unreached tribes building relationships.  One is a tribe that they went to war with some years ago.  A group of Maasai churches are sending their first missionary couple to another area to begin churches.  The wife of the couple was terribly burned over the majority of her body.  She is healing but has lost movement in many of her fingers.  The husband went to her to see if she would still be willing to move.  Sarah's reply, "why wouldn't we go! We are called by God to go and reach they Paraquyu!"  Faithful people serving a Faithful God!  There are kids who gather on the other side of the fence to listen to our school day.  Doors are opening for us to figure out how to meet the needs of the children in our village area with the gospel and a love to learn.  A church planter had a service in a difficult area to minister and 14 people came to Christ!  Church planters leading in war situations for peaceful resolution.  My God knows me and I know Him!  We know the things of God's character are true so we are confident in our steps in a world that is filled with sin.  "He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."  (Heb. 11:6)  Many things I teach here but my Tanzania friends teach me such a simplistic faith that is called to action on a daily basis and far outreaches the deepest of meaning.

Prayer Points~

  • evil sometimes gets the air time but our God is ever present desiring to be known by his people.  Let us be people who know and are known by our Creator!  That knowledge causes us to faithful action to do His will no matter the circumstances.  Let us stay tuned to the Goal!
