Pictured left is Boazi who is two years old and below is our youngest Yakini who is now two months old. They are the children of Marsel and Elizabeth. Marsel and Elizabeth have six children but the four oldest are elsewhere. I have a hard time not calling Boazi by the name of Baraka because he reminds me of one of the little boys of last group. Boazi is a hoot! He talks in a very high pitched tone and calls for us like a little bird. Mwalimu, Mwalimu, Mwalimu, Mwalimu, Mwalimu, in a sweet high pitched voice is what I hear ALL day long!!
Yakini is such a good baby. She has already had her first staring role as Moses if you remember a few blog posts back. Often Yakini is asleep on my back through most of the lessons. She is becoming more alert and grins when I speak to her. She is probably already laughing at my Swahili but she gets the loving point of my words regardless! Elizabeth calls me Yakini's mom rather than herself. Many will do that in a form of honor. I think since Yakini enjoys being with me during the day and the woman respond to my love for their children. But, as much as I love them, I am happy to hand them over when the bell rings! Mwalimu is fine for the little lark to call me rather than Mamma!
Help these children understand that a humble spirit will be bless and guided by You! Teach them to love the praise of God more than the praise of men. May they grow knowing that if they are humble, You will be the one who lifts them up, who helps them triumph! Father of Great Light, You are and will shine brightly through these two little lives!
