Visit to Eldoret, Kenya

I am so glad that I am able to visit Eldoret, Kenya. I was able to visit Jill while she is here finishing up her summer session work for IU here at the hospital in Eldoret. It is creeping to be my six month mark and needed a bit of a break. It was so wonderful to see a familiar face of Plainfield. I was very interested to see the work that Jill has been a part of all these years and it was funny that even though the medical talk was over my head the IU conversation was oddly comforting. It was a very low key and wonderful visit. I am extremely impressed with what they have done here to help Africa in the way of medicine.

I also have the blessing of visiting with fellow CMF Missionaries in Kenya. They have welcomed me to the CMF house in Eldoret where they come for refreshment and supplies while they are serving in Turkana. Lynn is my fellow single missionary friend and then I was able to meet the Harris family who are newer on the field as well. I have enjoyed sharing missionary experiences and just laughing together. The kids have been a delight to play with so over all a very good week and much needed.

I was able to tour some facilities and gain some further information on education and child projects so that also has been extremely helpful and has my mind running in additional creative circles. There is a Naukomat here in Eldoret. Which is very similar to a Wal-Mart in the States. Like the real thing and it is funny how wonderful it was to get some needed things. I never thought I would be so excited to get lotion or mouth wash! I shared with my missionary gal pals after returning it is funny how those simple things are so lovely now. I could have walked up and down the isles not buying a thing but just looking!!!!! There is even a bookshelf here at the house with books I haven't read and I just keep walking by it and reading the back of books as if I was a book store!

Lynn and I will leave tomorrow to drive from Eldoret to Nairobi. I am looking forward to the drive seeing more of Kenya. Please keep our travel in your prayers for safety. Then, Nairobi it is where I will meet up with Todd and Tami to venture the rest of the way home. Carters are taking Savannah to RVA which is a boarding school in Nairobi. We are all excited for Savannah and the way this has opened up for her but we will miss her on the center. Please pray for Savannah with this transition. As well as the Carters especially Tami (Momma Savannah's) momma's heart! This is a very hard thing even though the best thing for Savannah as she enters her junior year of high school!

Back to the Center where Training is Happening and Lives are being built up to be Christ-like Leaders in our beloved country of Tanzania!

God, and without hope in the world"--Robert Moffat

  1. I'm glad to hear more about your journey, Wendy! It makes me realize all the luxuries I take for granted in the states. I'm so proud of you for doing God's work in Tanzania!
