Meet Siliwano

I believe this look says it all! This little boy(who I thought for the first week was a girl till I took her to the bathroom and quickly found out she was indeed a he) could have Mother Theresa's patience tried. Actually, he is just a normal two year old who loves to explore. There have been several times I thought I would find him on the roof of the classroom rather than inside! He plays and eats dirt just like normal exploitative boys. With all that activity that can sometimes bring frustration to a teacher he has captured my heart. I get teary even getting ready to type this. When this little one watches his older brother at prayer time for what to do. His little arms lift up to the sky and he closes his eyes. He echos the prayer out loud with the others. Slowly, he begins to peek just to make sure he is still doing what he is supposed to do. Sometimes he brings his hands over his eyes for it is just all his little exploratory eyes can take to be closed for that long. After everyone else has said AMEN then we know Siliwano's will come loud and proud for he knows then its time. He loves to say AMEN! Oh how this little one loves to worship!
He has learned to sit still for his mind to be active. He now sits at the Toddler Table with his friend Isaya to read a book or work on a puzzle with Yael. He also has been known to skip play time in the morning and go right to his table to be ready to see what I am going to pull out my teaching bag for him. He has also learned to say Mwlimu (teacher.) It is a good thing he doesn't know this but when he looks at me and says Mwlimu I could just about give him whatever he wants!
Pray for Siliwano. Pray that he grows up to be a deep thinker and a man of action for the Lord here in Tanzania! He is the 6th child of 7!
