Milo is sitting in my lap as I type this post. We are both glad to be here to see friends and family. However, there is a constant nagging and pulling that our hearts are in Tanzania! So, how and when do we get back you ask?
First stop is that this is a time to see friends and family. Being on the field so very far away I do not get to see friends and be at all the family gatherings. We are busy creating "memories" and special moments to store for when we are so very far away. I am grateful for the kindness shown and special moments to share with people.
Second stop is CMF check-in! I count it a privilege to be a part of the CMF family! They are a great support system here in the States! There are so many details and items to cover that it is great to have mission-minded advocates to make sure we are traveling down the path well. I had my meeting with Fiance to go over my increased long-term budget, process and guidance time with Member Care, and rally time with Support Raising! It was a good day of encouragement for the ministry of reaching the children of Tanzania and the privilege for me being God's tool to ignite the love to learn. I am waiting on medical clearance but with the support of CMF I was encouraged to set out on raising the additional support to go home!
Please be in prayer about the support partners who we need and who need us to partner together for the ministry in Tanzania! Because of the wonderful support thus far there is only an additional amount of 2,000 that is needed on an on going monthly basis. My goal is to find 4-6 churches/groups who would like to support $300 to $500 a month. There are also additional items for my outgoing (one time) projects. These one time projects include a car $30,000, language school $5,600, computer $1,000, and appliances $3,000. I hope to partner with VBS Weeks, Camps, along with generous people of God. So that is the task at hand which we are ready to tackle! I am already amazed how God is moving in the lives of His people to continue to make HIS name known in 2011! (It is my goal to return mid to end summer)
The last weekend I was in Tanzania I had the honor of being a part of worship in the bush village of Ngoswack. We tease the church planters that the villages are often changing their names which make it hard for us to keep track. But, when they explained why we no longer teased but sat in awe. This village now has a church that is meeting because of a CHE group. The changing of the name was due to the fact that people were coming to the Lord. They decided to be known as a place where nutrients are found. The profound meaning of our on going grounded need for growing in the truth and knowledge of Christ! Ironically, I also was introduced to this beautiful young girl (about 8-10) who is an orphan desperately trying to survive. Her smile touched my heart in a way that drew me to her. You have to understand that poverty and destruction is all around us. But, there are those tear jerking moments of just how poor. I made a point to make this little girl feel valued and loved that day. Someone gave me cross bookmark that was in my Bible and as we gathered under the tree I gave it to her. As we prayed I saw her place this cross in her hand and hold it to her forehead. As I teared up I knew that she was pleading with the Lord to provide for her. The meaning of her "Ma" name is "one who is provided for." As this beautiful orphan sat next to me I pondered the physical needs that are not provided for and yet as she held that cross to her face I knew that she was learning who provides for her spiritually and I was gripped. Many of you I have shared that as I left it rained as I was trying to leave. Not good news for me but very good news for them! But, as best as I can, I am going to paint this picture that is an image I see constantly. This little girl stood alone outside as the rain poured and watched as I got in the truck to leave. I climbed back out of the truck and held her tight repeating that I would be back as long as the Lord provides here on Earth. In my rear view mirror, as I pulled out, is this Tanzanian young girl, in the rain, who now knows the provision of the Lord because God worked in the hearts of you and me. I must go back because she is one of many! She needs us and we need her! It is the prayer of her heart that you know as well who provides! What an honor to be a part of God's design and to respond in an act of worship.
Prayer Points~
- That God would provide spiritually and physically for the children of Tanzania!
- Please pray for the support that is needed for my return.
- I am grateful for my supporters and pray God's blessing on the lives touched by spreading His Love!
Info:
If you know of individuals or churches who would be willing to partner with us please give them my e-mail information wendy.tanzania@gamil.com. I look forward to giving the kids of the States the opportunity to know about missions and be a part of helping the kids of Tanzania to know Jesus!
