Crossroads Christian Church VBS

Tonight is the closing evening for the VBS at Crossroads here in FL!  The families all come tonight for a closing festive VBS gathering.  An evening VBS can take some getting used to but we have had a wonderful week.  The part that I have enjoyed the most is seeing the people of Crossroads both young and old get excited about missions.  I think I am one of the first missionaries to come specifically for VBS in awhile.  The kids are asking great questions and are working very hard to equip me with what is needed to return to TZ!  The kids had a goal to be able to put wheels on my car.  These 100 kids realize one day that more parts make up a car and they have been so generous to see how many parts they can get!  The kids in TZ need to know about Jesus and they are determined to help as much as they can.  I believe it was Wednesday Night the kids brought in almost $400 which was their goal for the entire week!  They have almost doubled their goal and are very excited that tonight they will get to put in a staff member in a dunk tank to celebrate!  I love being able to paint a picture for kids in the US to be connected to kids in TZ!  I was able to have a 20min. station each night with the kids to build and share about the ministry in Tanzania.

It has been great to be with kids again and they have grown in their understanding of missions.  There are a couple of girls that remind me of myself.  Regardless if I ever see them again I pray that there might be one who is willing to go to the far reaches of the world to share God's love.

I shared with the kids that the kids in TZ love to play soccer.  It is always one thing that they are both aware of playing.  I shared with the kids of Crossroads that sometimes the kids in TZ don't have a ball to play with.  I explained how they make one out of trash or brush.  Many of the kids were surprised by that and know that they have multiple balls at home.  The following day of sharing that with them during Missions Mania one of the kids came up to me.  He said, "I have several soccer balls at home."  Holding up a soccer ball he said, "I was wondering if you could take this to the kids in TZ."  I love it when kids are able to find ways themselves to respond in a loving way to bless others.  This kid was also a teacher to us adults because I think it was a bit of a surprise that he would be one to respond in this way.  My friends we never know how the Spirit will work in the lives of His people!
