We met at 4:30am to meet our guide. Our launch site was between two of the Safari Parks Terengeri and Lake Manyara. It was raining
when we got up. But as we got to the launch site and waiting anxiously as they prepped the balloon. The wind was a little strong so we waited but soon where on our way. At first when you see the guys on the ground let go as you float in the air is a little wild! I couldn't believe how smooth of a ride it was. It was mighty HOT under that burner shooting in the balloon. It was amazing the view. Truly there are no words. It was like the early scenes of the movie Lion King. Surveying the land of Africa and watching the birds spread their wings flying so peacefully. We could see Lake Manyara and the perfect bomas in a circle.
We saw the Rift Valley as it stretches along the mighty stretch of East Africa. In a short period of time we could stretch out and touch the top of the trees to flying so high that the animals looked like ants.
I recommend everyone do it at least once. I am glad my time was here in East Africa. I love that on this mass journey of serving God in this dry and dusty land there are exciting moments like this. Moments to take advantage of taking in the beauty of God's great creation.
The couple who have begun doing these balloon ventures are from Spain. They have begun attending the Vineyard which is the church we attend when in town. It was an encouragement to them and a true venture to us!
After landing we had breakfast along the side of the Baobab Tree. There is a saying here in Africa about the Baobab. It is said that for some reason God became angry at the tree and decided to turn it upside down. This story is told to explain why the top looks more like the root system than tops. They are mighty trees that stretch throughout this area.
It may not be in a hot air balloon but I challenge you this week to take the time to look around where you live. Take in the beauty of God's Creation!
We serve a Mighty God!
