I love Christmas! I love to celebrate with the kids the birth of Jesus! I enjoy being able to ponder what the miracle birth was like on that night in Bethlehem. I watched The Nativity movie once again and found that because of my culture I now live in there are many parts of that story that are now not so difficult to see with real eyes. It is not so hard to envision babies being born without the help of a hospital, warmth found from animals, stars that twinkle bright to guide the way. All that said there is still a mystical and worshipful mindset for the miracle gift for you and me! I have to admit that I also love and enjoy all the extra sights, sounds, smells, and tastes that November and December bring. But, like any good teacher we created some fun ways to remember and have portions of the western Christmas as best as one can here in Africa. I am grateful for the many who sent little things to help make this even easier to do. I missed Tami's enthusiasm but enjoyed the nuggets of discovery in new ways. Annelle and I were busy in the kitchen making fun Christmas yummies. Scott was a good sport to watch Christmas movies. And we snuck away for a Christmas Adventure!
It was a HOT Christmas with swimming, lunch on the beach, dinner on the dock, shopping in unique little shops and lots of new sights! I love discovering new places and of all the things that are hard to be so far away. I find traveling to enjoy new sights and God's creation are the gifts of this life. On Christmas Day we sat in the chapel ruins read the Christmas story, sang, and exchanged gifts! It was a very unique and special time that will be forever in my mind of Christmas memories. We swam then headed to see the Red Callabus Monkeys that are only found in this place of the world! Dinner was set up with candle light tables that sat on the beach. It was lovely! The next day we went on the Spice Tour adventure since we were on Spice Island! It was fascinating to see how cloves, cinnamon, vanilla etc. look like before it is in the cabinet. So many wonderful things that God has created for tastes, help medicinally, and for good smells!
The way home was quite the adventure as well for my seat on our very small plane home was the co-piolet seat!! No lie up front next to the piolet with all the gadgets in front of me. I was so afraid to move for fear of hitting something!! But, it was so cool to be able to see the clouds coming in the front window and the coastline. We were only at 10,000 feet lower than most of the mountains around here so you could see the terrain the whole way! Annelle was not as excited about this part of the venture as I was but another notch on the adventure belt!!
Enjoy a few of our amazing Christmas Sites to this year's theme song!
(I was kinda tired of getting sappy and teary when I kept hearing white Christmas songs or I'll be Home for Christmas. So I did some research and found one for us!!)
