One of the neat things about CCU is the location. The campus sits on top of a hill that over looks the city of Cincinnati. It is beautiful! The annual "lighting" of the hill to kick off the new school year was last week. Students gathered to worship and were challenged to by the president and admissions staff to "Dream BIG!" The location where the old dorm Rine stood opens up an even greater view of the city from campus. Beams were created in this spot and in the middle clear glass where students took turns writing their dreams of how God can use them. The students were given lanterns to light and send from campus symbolic to be a light to the world. It was very moving as the students let the lanterns go and they began to drift
up into the sky (one even in a tree but all is ok! Campus still stands!)
The start of school is going well. It has been challenging to share in chapel and a joy to begin to connect with students. I hold a weekly event on Tuesday Nights called Tanzania Tuesdays were the kids come hang out at the house, ask questions, and talk about serving in global missions. I have even lectured in few classes already and even taken advantage my favorite professors classes while here.
I am grateful for this opportunity to be a part of student life and the next generation of global workers! What a privilege to get to be one like the many in my life who had challenging conversations with me when I was a student here! I sat around many a tables for social gatherings hearing stories and hoped one day that I would get to tell stories like that. I am grateful for those like the Eynon's, Grubb's, Delany's, Taylor's and many other wonderful professors who taught me well to now have the opportunity to do the very same here at CCU is a gift.
Prayer Points~
- Ground these students so the foundations they build here will be one that they can stand firm on when they graduate.
- I continue to pray for my faithful support that makes it possible for me to serve.
- May we ALL be a light to the Nations!!
