Last weekend I decided that it was time to visit Naserian at her boarding school in Longido. If you remember she is the young girl that I have taken under my wing. Annah and Anasi made the journey with us. Jan also came with with us to see the sights of the other side of the mountain. Jan is a teammate/friend and it was fun to share the day with everyone. Milo also made the trip since it has been many many days since Naserian has gotten to see him. There is always quite a greeting by the kids when we arrive at the school. One of the teachers in the office was proud to show me their new greenhouse. It was actually impressive and I was pleased some of the projects they had going on the grounds. Naserian keeps getting taller and taller. We took her and ate lunch at a local place that sits right with Longido in the background. Naserian opens up more and more as the time goes on. We really enjoyed our visit together.
Naserian asked if Milo would remember her. Sure enough he got right out of his bag and went to her. She picked him up and were buddies the rest of the day! Many kept walking by of course Milo was like the circus act of the day. Naserian needed some items before returning to school so we had a big time treasure troving in the little shops/markets around the base of the mountain. We all got some new flip flop looking sandals made out of tires that were beautifully painted on for design. It was the closest thing to girls day out shopping at the mall one can get here in this part of Tanzania!

Naserian asked if Milo could meet her friends at the school. Tanzanians are often afraid of Milo because they have never seen anything like him before. Their fear actually makes him a bit uneasy and alert. When the kids tower over him he can get a bit nervous. But the kids listened well to instruction on how to get to know Milo and they LOVED him! But he liked even more watching everyone from his bag that Naserian proudly carried!
We had a wonderful day but it is always a bit hard to tell everyone goodbye.
- Naserian is doing much better in school! She is in Class 4 which means she has to take the National Examination this year. One must pass this exam or you can not go forward. This is why many have only gone to this level in school. The test can be difficult and the things asked very challenging because of the way the system is structured. However, I continue to believe in Naserian's ability and pray for her as she prepares for this exam come in November (I think.)
