Welcome to Parent's Day!
Last Friday the school Joshua School Arusha here on the base ended the second term of the year. On the last day of the term we invite the parents to visit. There is a time of worship in the beginning and this year they did something new. The parents broke up into groups and rotated to each class. The class then had a rotation of activities to demonstrate what they learned over the term. The teachers and students did a great job of demonstrating! The exciting part of this new approach was for the parents to get to experience many ways in which our learning is different within the Tanzanian Ministry of Education requirements. At times we had some clashing groups with a bit of difficulty rotating clockwise but all in all a huge success!

One of my favorite parts of the later half of Parent's Day is when the awards for the top students in each class are given. I love to see how proud and excited the kids are. Tears of excitement and hard work trickled down one of the older girl's checks. But my favorite part is seeing the parents come to the front to hug and congratulate their child. The smiles are beautiful and the parent beams with such pride.

The kids now have most of the month of August to rest and help at home. The teachers return the last week of August for Teacher Only Days. It is nice to have a slight break in the schedule. However, my office work has needed much attention over the last few weeks. I am catching up on that along with things around the house. I continue to make notes about the second term while planning for Teacher Only Days and the final 3rd term of the year. It is hard to believe that I have been back in Tanzania for eight months! Somedays it feels that long! Especially when I see how long Bella's legs have gotten and Adelynn sure is not a baby anymore (my nieces!) While most days go very fast and another year complete on the horizon! Somedays are fast while others are slow but the one thing I know is that each a gift. A gift of God's goodness to treasure within and to share that love with as many as you can touch!
Prayer Points~
- May these days in August be restful and rejuvenating for the teachers and kids
- For wisdom as I plan and think about items needed for the third term and exciting future things for next year
- to live with an expectation and dependance on the kindness of God EVERYDAY!
