Worshiping with Daniel, Mary, and Eliza

Early Sunday morning the Carters, Lomanyani, his wife, and I got in the car and drove to Mondori. We were invited by one of our church planter families to the first Sunday to worship within their church building. This is the first church within the area among the Barabique tribe. We always are greeted with a warm welcome. It was the 4th of July and shortly after we arrived a young gal came walking up the path with flags in her hand. They were small but I could see it that one was the American Flag. How wonderful it was to see our flag coming down the dirt path. The American Flag was joined by the International, Jewish, and Tanzanian Flags up in front along the base of the wall. (Interesting) Church began with singing and dancing. There was a Tanzanian who had very lengthy remarks to begin the service. (They always have a great deal to say!) People kept trickling in as the service went on. My favorite part was that Eliza came to sit on my lap! How I have missed the kids! As the service went on she fell asleep in my arms and I was happy as can be.

Daniel and Mary were set a part during the service for prayer as they set out to plant another church close to the area. They came forward and were surrounded by a circle of prayer warriors. This is the first time that the team can remember a Tanzanian church setting a part one of their own to send out. It was very moving to be a part of and encouraging that the Tanzanians are raising up their own people to make a difference in this country to know the Lord!

After four and half hours there was a song for us guests to move to the table that was set up in the front of the church for us to be served lunch. Now it wouldn't be completely spiritual of me to go into what we were served. I am not even sure I know and I can guarantee you that my insides were unclear about what it was as well. (That is the price of living in Africa sometimes!) Gracious people and it was a joy to worship with them. The day we celebrated Independence and a precious day for them as they celebrated the beginning of spreading the truth to those who do no know the freedom in Christ!
