An Unexpected Opportunity
An English writer, Joseph Addison said, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” Most of you readers are probably like me growing up in a western country. Books are readily available at home or school to build understanding of the world around us. Now, I work in a third world country with a group of people bringing transformation through education. I walk into classrooms filled with students who would like to learn how to read but there are no books. We have an unexpected opportunity to change that but we need your help!A forty foot container full of new Global Education books is being donated from the United States of America. These quality graded readers are Key Links Books with beautiful illustrations and written with the potential to exercise the growing minds here in Tanzania. This opportunity is possible because of contacts through RATA. Mainfreight is a shipping company covering the shipment from the United States of America to Dar-es-Salam. This is where your help comes in to make this possible. The Joshua Foundation needs to find funding for the freight cost of moving the container from Dar-es-Salam to Arusha, wharf costs, clearance costs, and container costs. This duty free operation needs $7,000 USD to complete the future arrival of the books.
This is a tremendous opportunity to bring a large number of books to share with schools all across Tanzania. Many of you have helped buy books for me to put into my suitcase or have brought them personally. This is a mighty big suitcase of books and so desperately needed! We are grateful for the kindness of so many to help make this an opportunity for the schools in Tanzania. If you are able to help with the remaining financial needs please follow the “Book Donation” options below. Designate the funds as "Book Donation" in the memo or notes line if possible. This container is preparing to leave and we need donations to be submitted by January 24, 2019!
